Grandpa's Place

Mom has been gone for two years now, and over that time, it has become apparent that Dad should say goodbye to condo life and hello to assisted living life. After some scary experiences, we all convinced him it was time. He has made the official move to an assisted living facility in Novi called Walton Wood. It's a cute, two-bedroom, two-bath apartment with a small kitchenette and plenty of storage. It's been an easy and positive transition so far.

The things that I love about it are:

1. There is space for us to stay if we want to come down and visit.

2. There is space for him to store a lot of sentimental items he's not ready to say goodbye to yet.

3. He doesn't have to cook on his own, but can if he wants. AND, there are meals available whenever he wants them. SUCH a relief!

4. He has access to 24/7 nursing care...another huge relief!

5. It's close to everything and a good location.

Finally--it has all the touches that the condo had and reminds me of them there. It's still so comforting to go to a place that holds memories of Mom and Dad together.
